The RFID card stands out from other card-shaped products due to its technical attributes. The physical properties may define an RFID card from an RFID tag, but it is the technical aspects that make it unique.

Every RFID card is equipped with an chip that is connected to an RFID IC, allowing it to receive, store, and transmit data through radio waves. RFID cards typically use passive RFID technology and do not have an internal power source. Instead, they are powered by the electromagnetic energy received from the RFID reader.

Details

Magnetic cards are a popular technology for access control and identification systems.

There are three main types of magnetic cards that Hallmark Locks offer:

  1. LoCo magnetic cards,
  2. HiCo magnetic cards, and
  3. Contactless RFID Mifare cards, as well as
  4. Dual cards that combine both contactless RFID and HiCo magnetic technologies.

LoCo magnetic cards use low-coercivity magnetic stripes to store data, making them less durable than other types of magnetic cards. They are commonly used for basic applications such as access control and time and attendance tracking.

HiCo magnetic cards, on the other hand, use high-coercivity magnetic stripes that are more durable and secure. They are often used for more secure applications such as financial transactions and government facilities.

Contactless RFID Mifare cards use radio frequency identification (RFID) technology to communicate with a reader, eliminating the need for a physical contact. They are more convenient for users as they can simply hold the card near the reader to grant access. Contactless RFID Mifare cards are also more secure compared to magnetic stripe cards, as they use encryption technology to prevent unauthorized access.

Finally, Dual cards that combine both contactless RFID and HiCo magnetic technologies offer the convenience of RFID technology with the added security of HiCo magnetic stripes. These cards are commonly used in large-scale access control systems and can be integrated with other security systems such as biometric authentication and video surveillance.
